Frasca Food & Wine Claim

0 / 5

Frasca is the creation of Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey and Chef Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson. Their shared passion for Friulano cuisine and fine wine is reflected in the exquisitely prepared fare and a comprehensive wine list boasting over 200 varieties.

Our Inspiration
Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a sub-alpine region in northeast Italy. Steeped in tradition, nestled at the foot of the Carnic and Julian Alps and bordered by Austria, Slovenia, and the Adriatic Sea, it is a region of immense cultural blending, geographical diversity, and idyllic beauty.

A huge part of Friulano food tradition is the neighborhood, Frasca. Historically found throughout Friuli, Frascas were friendly and informal gathering places, a destination for farmers, friends, and families to share a meal and a bottle of wine. Identified by a tree branch hanging over a doorway portal, they were a symbol of local farm cuisine, wine, and warm hospitality. As the harvest came to a close, the branch would wither and change colors to indicate the end of the season. The Frascas would then close their doors until the next year.

Monday Night Wine Dinner: Aperture Cellars with Winemaker Jesse Katz

We are so thrilled to welcome back Boulder native, Jesse Katz, to Frasca. Growing up, Jesse traveled the great wine regions of the world with his father, photographer, Andy Katz. It didn’t take many visits to wineries like Domaine Leflaive, Sassicaia, and Chateau Mouton Rothschild to turn Jesse on to the enticing world of winemaking. He started young, working at Fess Parker in Los Olivos at age 18. From there, he worked with many iconic winemakers, including at Bodegas Noemia in Patagonia, with Paul Hobbs at Vina Cobos in Mendoza and then with Andy Erickson at Screaming Eagle. Jesse’s tenure in California includes having been winemaker of both Lancaster Estate and Roth Estate. His own labels, Aperture and Devil Proof have a huge following already – Devil Proof has no doubt already achieved “Cult” status. This will be a great night for lovers of well made world class wines.
